1. Acceptance of these Terms. By connecting any device to the Blisss Residents WiFi network ("the Network"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not connect to the Network.
2. Who may use the Network. The Network is provided for the personal, non-commercial use of current residents of Blisss Student Accommodation and their registered devices. Access may be limited to a maximum number of devices per resident, currently three (3), and management may adjust this limit at its discretion.
3. Personal information we collect. To provide and manage the Network, we collect and store: your name and unit/room number, your resident account username, the network (MAC) address of each device you connect, and connection timestamps. We use this information solely to provision your WiFi access, enforce the device limit above, maintain the security and stability of the Network, and to suspend or restore access where these Terms or your accommodation agreement require it. By accepting these Terms, you consent to this collection and use of your personal information for those purposes. We will not sell your personal information and will not share it other than as needed to operate the Network, to comply with a legal obligation, or with your further consent.
4. Acceptable use. You agree not to use the Network to: break any applicable law; attempt to access another resident's device, account, or data without permission; interfere with or disrupt the Network or other residents' use of it; or engage in excessive or abusive use that degrades the Network for others. Management may investigate suspected misuse and may suspend access while doing so.
5. Network security and assumption of risk. The Network is a shared network, and — as with any shared or public network — there is an inherent risk that data transmitted over it could be intercepted, or that a connected device could be accessed without authorisation by another party, despite reasonable security measures. You connect to and use the Network entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for securing your own device (for example, keeping its operating system updated, using a firewall and up-to-date security software, and avoiding untrusted downloads) and for any data or files you choose to transmit over the Network. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blisss Student Accommodation, its management, and its owners are not liable for any loss, damage, unauthorised access, "hacking," data breach, or other harm arising from or connected to your use of the Network, whether caused by another resident, a third party, or a fault or vulnerability in the Network itself.
6. No warranty. The Network is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, including as to uninterrupted availability, speed, or fitness for a particular purpose. Management does not guarantee that the Network will be free of outages, errors, or security vulnerabilities.
7. Limitation of liability and indemnity. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blisss Student Accommodation's total liability to you arising out of or relating to your use of the Network is excluded. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Blisss Student Accommodation, its management, and its owners against any claim, loss, or damage arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Network.
8. Suspension and termination of access. Management may suspend or terminate your access to the Network, including by blocking your registered device(s), at its reasonable discretion — including for a breach of these Terms, for security reasons, or in connection with your accommodation agreement (for example, an overdue payment). Where practical, we will try to let you know why access was suspended and how to resolve it.
9. Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect a change in how the Network is managed. The version in force at the time you connect applies. We recommend checking this page occasionally.
10. Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including (where applicable) the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").
11. Contact us. If you have questions about these Terms or about how your personal information is used, please contact the residence office.
